THE ULTIMATE CHOCOLATE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE
Recipe Notes: I originally found this recipe on the back of a Nestlé Semi-Sweet Morsels bag, and it quickly became my favorite cookie recipe. I was dismayed to find one day that Nestlé had replaced this recipe with another on their bags. Determined to find the original recipe, I emailed Nestlé's Customer Service and was thrilled when they emailed the recipe to me the same week. Hope you enjoy these cookies as much as I do!
Preparation Time: One hour and 30 minutes
Quantity: Makes 4 1/2 dozen
Source: Back of Nestlé Toll House semi-sweet chocolate morsels bag
Ingredients:
- 4 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided
- 2 2/3 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. butter or margarine, softened
- 1 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 3 large eggs
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Melt 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips in small, heavy-duty sauce pan over low heat; stir until smooth. Remove from heat.
- Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in medium bowl.
- Beat butter or margarine, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and vanilla in a large mixing bowl. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addtion. Beat in melted chocolate. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in remaining 2 cups of chocolate chips.
- Drop by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets.
- Bake for 8 to 9 minutes or until cookies are puffed. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool completely.
Tips:
- These cookies are best when the bottom is the same color as the top. The cookies will be overdone if the bottoms are any darker.
- I've found 8-9 minutes is often not long enough. You may find 10-12 minutes is better.
